I wore a T-shirt to school and it said, 'I'm not gay but my girlfriend is.' No swears, no sex, no nothing, and I was asked by my dean to remove the shirt. He said it had offended one of the teachers who felt it was a disruption. I said,'No, I will not remove my shirt, there's nothing in the rule book that says anything about, you know, you may not wear a shirt that represents gender preference.' I felt first of all very embarrassed. Secondly, I felt very alone. And that really, ultimately the school did not want me there. The only thing I can get out of the school now is pain and aggravation. So the best path for me was to leave.
